Gillian lost not one, but two front teeth today! The cover picture in this podcast was taken after the first tooth came out and just before she lost the second. She was pretty thrilled! Naturally, the tooth fairy was a large presence in this episode. Other topics discussed include, how we take our tea and coffee, Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley, and (surprise!) books.

Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaur!

Curious George

Are You My Mother?

This episode is a special episode in honor of Mother's Day which is coming up this Sunday! It is also the first time we have attempted to record as an entire family (except for Violet, who preferred to sleep).

If you enjoy the podcast, do us a huge favor and rate, review, and subscribe! It truly would help us out.

We talked about many books in this episode, but the main one I wanted to make sure you can find is this coloring book. We love ours!

This conversation between Truxton and Papa ends up being heavy on reptiles. After a trip to the zoo, they talk about the Emerald Tree Boa, the rhinoceros snake, snakes that look just like sticks in the water, anacondas, chameleons, copperheads, spring peepers, corn snakes, and bearded dragons. They do also end up discussing the polar bear.

Books mentioned:

National Audubon Society Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians

Joan of Arc, by Diane Stanley

Sophie and Papa are chatting this evening. They talk a bit about Abigail Adams, the creative process of sewing, what sorts of things we should grow in our garden, furniture, and imaginary toothbrush ladies.

Kinsley and Papa cover some weird stuff, indeed. Topics discussed this evening include the Boxer Rebellion, how to outsmart a dragon, how a pearl is formed, the importance of the wireless telegraph in solving a murder, how to cope with a giant walking goldfish, and the importance of sleeping with one's throat covered.

Books mentioned in this episode:

Thunderstruck by Erik Larson (L.A. Times described this book as "A ripping yarn of murder and invention...")

Madam How and Lady Why by Charles Kingsley

The Story Book of Science by Jean Henri Fabre

Abraham Lincoln's World by Genevieve Foster

Tonight Violet and Papa discuss fun gifts from mail carriers, all the babies that we know, Easter egg hunts, and various animals and the sounds the make (hint: they mostly roar, which sounds like the word "why").

Gilli and Papa discuss her upcoming birthday, gifts from our mail lady, going camping, flowers, and what constitutes a cozy book, among other important topics.

Gillian feels that the Tumtum and Nutmeg books epitomize literary coziness.

Since you have been able to hear Violet in the background of so many of the recent podcasts, we thought we'd give you an audio glimpse of what it's like when we try to remove her from the studio prior to recording each podcast.

In this episode, Papa tries to put the fear of big, hungry snakes into Trux. I don't think he was successful. They also discuss days spent exploring outdoors, angry bearded dragons, and preferences regarding fish. Truxton re-tells the story that Mama heard on the In Sight Podcast, about the missing crew of the Sara Joe, and Papa tells the Skunk and the Corncob story, once again.
